Kunal Sawhney:I don't want to replace the contents of the file when I run the code. Instead I want to append the new data in the file. How can I do this ? Please assist.

I was looking at some of my solutions and i couldn't figure out what this means: while( (fis.available() >0) sometimes it also looks like this: while((temp=fi.read()) != -1) one of my student colleagues said we always need a while loop i streams. But i really don't know the purpose :-/
Fabian G.:I learned that there shouldn't be any exception caught in a usual successful run of a program. But for the ObjectInputStream the program needs to catch the EOFException to know when it's done reading. Is there another way to do it or is that the best/only way to go?
