The old tricks of gaming the system to increase search rankings disappear more every day because the main goal for the search engines is to create a listing of results that are the best, not the most optimized. They want to look at your content and see that you are relevant, timely and helping people. That might sound like something a bit comple for a search engine to understand, but it does and it's judging you for it everytime your site is udpated. So what does this have to do with blogging specifically? Your business is helpful for people so that's more than enough content to share with the world, right? Wrong. There needs to be less selfish and more in-demand non-transactional content on your site, specifically on a page with blog functionality. A blog section of a website is specifically programmed to be updated with entries in chronological order. This is useful for search engines to recognize new content on your site and useful for you because updating landing pages (static pages of your site that are not meant to be changed frequently, such as your about page, a sales page, or the home page) isn't beneficial for potential subscribers of your website. Because of the dated entries, the more often you add one you are updating your site and the search engines make notes of those changes. So now that you've pinged the search engines they are increasing the relevancy of your site as it has newer content and then it analyzes that information to see how it is related to what is trending in search options. In order to actually have that blog post make a difference in your search rankings, you should be discussing content that people want to know about your niche. Everytime Google sees you helping people with your blog posts and finding out more about what you do and how your specialty fits into search, you increase your opportunity of being seen as a go to source for that subject matter. If you tell people what they want to know, they will listen to what you think they need to hear. And that includes search engines. The bottom line is that you just want to tailor your blog posts to help people. The proper information and navigation of the content will help you with search because it will be noted that you are focusing on helping people, not gaming results for a keyword. Are you blogging for your business? How are you tailoring your content to help people? What SEO tactics have you included that help search and your audience?
